Site updates
So, this website is almost responsive. I say that, only because I haven't got a tablet to see how things look. Basically once you get to a small enough screen, the scattered elements from the main page turn into a list of links with varying sizes. Also, my flavor of the week is vw, vh, vmin, vmax. I do still need to make an actual page for things I link, as well as fixing these blog posts to be semi-human readable urls and easier to explore on mobile.
Dinos?!?

I've been really into playing Ark lately. Justin and I've got a fair number of dinosaurs tamed and ready for exploration, and I'm really enjoying just running around this giant mysterious island with force field walls. On the other hand, I hate this game to the fullest possible extent. It has such a way of letting you be semi-successful for such a long time, before you go just a little too far, or get a little too successful and it punishes you, leaving you stranded and looking for your body bag amongst a dozen baddies.
Inventory
We recently got some new instruments at work, that use different reagents than the old ones. The test selection is basically the same, although the number of tests per reagent bottle may have changed slightly. What I'm getting at, is the people who order supplies are having a hard time keeping all the reagents for the tests stocked. Part of that is probably negligence, and the other is I think they're trying to have a standing, repeating order, as well as ordering extra reagents on top of that. Clearly, we need a change.
Time for some useless work. Even though traktube was a fully working flop (no money to buy a server, despite saving us tons of money), I've decided to slowly work on an inventory system. I may write a longer post about this later on, but all of our supplies have barcodes on them that include expiration dates, lot numbers, and other relevant information. I'd like to have a system that can scan those barcodes into a database, and notify us when things need reordered, as well as keep stats on usage, waste, test utilization, ect. I don't think it would be difficult to write (an excel spreadsheet could likely do the same thing), but it needs to be easy to use for the sake of the ol' ladies I'm working with. Maybe in 10 years we could add some features after the baby boomers retire. More to come on this as soon as I get started.
